Nitrogen Sources
NITROGEN (N) is an essential nutrient used to stimulate vegetative growth for plant development and reproduction. Nitrogen is a major component of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins used by plants to produce chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the compound used to convert solar energy to chemical energy in the form of carbohydrates such as sugars produced from water and carbon dioxide (i.e., photosynthesis).
Nitrogen fertilizers promote vegetative growth and are generally applied in higher concentrations throughout the early stages of growth.
