Nitrogen Sources

NITROGEN (N) is an essential plant nutrient used to stimulate vegetative growth and is necessary for the metabolic process in plants.  Nitrogen is used for producing carbohydrates and amino acids, the building blocks of proteins.  These are all used by plants to produce chlorophyll, the compound used to convert solar energy to chemical energy (i.e., photosynthesis).

Organic nitrogen fertilizers promote vegetative growth and are generally applied in higher concentrations throughout the early stages of plant growth.
